I’m Liz Schaffer, the founder and creative director of Lodestars Anthology, an independent magazine-meets-journal that, since 2014, has explored a single country every issue. So far, we’ve created magazines devoted to England, Scotland, Australia, Italy, Sweden, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, France, India, Portugal, Switzerland, Mexico, Wales, Greece, Spain and Ireland (and produced a collection of City Guides).
An expert at living out of a suitcase, I also work as a freelance writer, editor and photographer specialising in travel, food and the arts.
In 2017 I also created Pathways, a photo book, with New Heroes & Pioneers, in 2021 I edited The Unyoked Writer’s Anthology vol 1, and in 2024 I released Slow Travel Britain with Hoxton Mini Press. Slow Travel Japan will be released in 2026, with a book dedicated to Australia, and published by Hardie Grant, following in 2028.
